$5000 attracts top golfers
MUNDUBBERA Golf Club’s sixth annual Imperial Challenge Two Day Three Ball Ambrose promises plenty of excitement and a high calibre of golfers this weekend.
Club member and Mundubbera resident Peter Hunsley has won the event three times in the last five years, and will be hard to beat again.
“There are some very good golfers registered to play on the weekend,” Hunsley said.
“The standard of play will be very high and it will be interesting to see how it pans out.”
The event has plenty of bounty to play for and it will attract fancy golfers from near and far.
Entries from Cooroy, Gin Gin and Emerald will challenge local golfers who are ready to play at their best to keep the trophies at home.
The event will run this Saturday and Sunday, with a barbecue dinner on Saturday night.
More than $5000 in prizes and the Noel and Vida Zipf Perpetual Trophy will be up for grabs.
Prizes are also on offer for non-golfing teams who want a fun day out on the green.
The usual nearest to the pin on one par 3 hole will be awarded on all par 3 holes on the course and second and third shots nearest the pin on other selected holes.
Sponsors Day this Friday is a nine-hole eclectic.
It is a stroke play competition.
