FOOTBALL fans were out in force when Harry Kewell, Australia’s greatest footballer, headed to Hervey Bay in September.

The Socceroos star took his Harry Kewell Academy to the Bay for children aged 9–12.

Mundubbera and Gayndah soccer stars of the future, Rhythm Anbeek, Connor Pashley, Sophie Zipf along with Ben Kelly from Mundubbera and Rosie Tom Halt from Gayndah had some intensive coaching from the man himself.

Sophie Zipf was one of the local children who embraced the opportunity to get some one-on-one time with the superstar.

“There were so many kids there it was incredible,” she said.

“Harry Kewell spent time with everyone and he was so easy to talk to.”

Kewell, 35, said he had been looking forward to going to Hervey Bay and passing on some of his football knowledge to the next generation of football stars.

Since retiring from football in March, Kewell has dedicated his time travelling around Australia to conduct his academy master classes.
