Big boost for farming future
A WAVE of new scholarships could bring the dreams of many young farmers within reach. Queensland Agricultural Training Colleges are offering up to $10,000 to go towards agriculture courses at Emerald, Longreach and Gatton. Budding Monto farmer Kirsten Vanclooster said this sort of support would be essential in kicking off her career. “I think people are hesitant about becoming farmers because money is always tight,” she said. Unlike many other careers, Ms Vanclooster said becoming a farmer was difficult because there was no well-established pathway on how to succeed. Some of the Queensland Agricultural Training Colleges scholarships close as early as October 17, so visit www. qatc.edu.au for more details.
