Silence on lack of signal for farmers

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

DURONG cattle and grain farmer Francis Coe is frustrated that he has access to communication technology but no signal.

His mobile phone and tablet are next to useless because of poor signal.

“You live with what you’ve got, but when you’ve got the technology that you can’t use, it’s just frustrating,” Mr Coe said.

At 75 he has leapt aboard mobile technology and online business but has been forced to use slow and irregular methods through satellite internet to use the online agribusiness tools.

“We’re constantly on it (the internet), communicating with people and banking is a big thing,” Mr Coe said.

While Mr Coe does have online access, it isn’t always reliable and is slow.

Mobile phone coverage would give Mr Coe access to mobile broadband.
