NORTH Burnett mums-to-be can experience a personalised midwifery service, due to start in Gayndah this month.

Klare Craven-Hughes, who runs an accredited private midwifery practice from Bundaberg, will provide monthly appointments for families at IWC Gayndah.

“The way I run my midwifery care is very individual,” Ms Craven-Hughes said.

“In an ideal world, I would see each woman at least once before she’s pregnant... and the service goes through until six weeks after birth.

“Seeing the same person each time is beneficial; we don’t need to start from zero each time.”

Mums-to-be would receive a full education, discuss baby’s progress, and hear baby’s heartbeat from about 11 weeks.

Notes from the bulk-billed visits would be shared with Bundaberg Base Hospital and each woman’s GP, she said.

IWC Gayndah child health worker Cynthia George said free transport within the North Burnett to IWC Gayndah could be organised with at least 24 hours’ notice.

To book an appointment on October 28, please phone IWC Gayndah, corner of Pineapple and Gordon Sts, on 4161 4800.
