Jockey faints at Gayn­dah

JOCKEY Carl Spry, for­merly of Gayn­dah, fainted from de­hy­dra­tion and fell off a horse after the sec­ond race at Gayn­dah on Satur­day. He was taken to Gayn­dah Hos­pi­tal and put on a drip, but dis­charged later that af­ter­noon. Spry rode Bush Beat to sec­ond place in Race 2, the Golden Orange Ho­tel-Mo­tel QTIS Maiden Plate, be­fore be­ing re­placed in the 1400m Ken O’Dowd Hand­i­cap by Lyall Appo who rode Aashiq to a win. Appo also re­placed Spry in the Class 2 Hand­i­cap, while Ja­son Hoop­ert sad­dled up for the Class B Hand­i­cap. Spry is ex­pected to race at Mt Isa on Satur­day, be­fore mov­ing to Dar­win to ride and train horses.
