Jockey faints at Gayndah
JOCKEY Carl Spry, formerly of Gayndah, fainted from dehydration and fell off a horse after the second race at Gayndah on Saturday. He was taken to Gayndah Hospital and put on a drip, but discharged later that afternoon. Spry rode Bush Beat to second place in Race 2, the Golden Orange Hotel-Motel QTIS Maiden Plate, before being replaced in the 1400m Ken O’Dowd Handicap by Lyall Appo who rode Aashiq to a win. Appo also replaced Spry in the Class 2 Handicap, while Jason Hoopert saddled up for the Class B Handicap. Spry is expected to race at Mt Isa on Saturday, before moving to Darwin to ride and train horses.
