DAMI Im rocked the Gayndah races on Saturday, arriving in a vintage car and hanging out with the jockeys after the last race.

Gayndah Horse and Jockey Club reported that Dami’s visit – initiated by Golden Orange Hotel-Motel owner Ken Mogg – had made the day “one of the biggest days we’ve ever had”. Dami mingled with guests in the VIP marquee, then wowed the crowd with – current hit single Gladiator for the Gayndah Gladiators rugby league fans, Eye of the Tiger with a nod to Mundubbera, and Purple Rain.

The singer said her X-Factor Australia win last year had led to new experiences.

“I meet people and go to beautiful places like Gayndah ... so I feel very blessed,” Dami said.

Her new album, Heartbeat, is due out tomorrow.

“It will be good to put my music out there and not covers, but actual songs that I wrote,” she said.
