Meet­ing on CSG con­cerns

MONTO land­hold­ers and AgForce will meet next Tues­day to dis­cuss coal seam gas.

Although there are no ad­vanced plans for CSG, an ex­plo­ration ten­ure was granted this year on the north­ern bound­ary of the shire.

Ac­cord­ing to the State Gov­ern­ment Mi­nesOn­line Maps por­tal, the near­est CSG ten­ure is north of Monto just south of Biloela.

“The projects team is not aware of any plans for de­vel­op­ment in this ten­ure or ad­vanced ex­plo­ration,” AgForce CSG project of­fi­cer Daniel Phipps said.

“Land­hold­ers who have been ap­proached are en­cour­aged to con­tact us.”

The per­mit, granted on June 10, be­longs to U&D Min­ing In­dus­try, which is listed on the Aus­tralian Stock Ex­change, and al­lows it to con­duct ex­plo­ration.

Projects team will aim to pre­pare land­hold­ers in case they were ap­proached by any re­source com­pa­nies.

“(The team will) ex­plain to land­hold­ers what their rights are, and tips to suc­cess­fully ne­go­ti­ate an agree­ment with any company,” Mr Phipps said.

“The projects team has also had some land­hold­ers con­tact us with ques­tions re­gard­ing CSG pipe­line re­me­di­a­tion and op­er­a­tional ac­tiv­i­ties which the team will also dis­cuss.”
