Meeting on CSG concerns
MONTO landholders and AgForce will meet next Tuesday to discuss coal seam gas.
Although there are no advanced plans for CSG, an exploration tenure was granted this year on the northern boundary of the shire.
According to the State Government MinesOnline Maps portal, the nearest CSG tenure is north of Monto just south of Biloela.
“The projects team is not aware of any plans for development in this tenure or advanced exploration,” AgForce CSG project officer Daniel Phipps said.
“Landholders who have been approached are encouraged to contact us.”
The permit, granted on June 10, belongs to U&D Mining Industry, which is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, and allows it to conduct exploration.
But because changes to mining legislation and land access laws were passed in September, the AgForce
Daniel Phipps Landholders who have been approached are encouraged to contact us.
Projects team will aim to prepare landholders in case they were approached by any resource companies.
“(The team will) explain to landholders what their rights are, and tips to successfully negotiate an agreement with any company,” Mr Phipps said.
“The projects team has also had some landholders contact us with questions regarding CSG pipeline remediation and operational activities which the team will also discuss.”
