Blue Cows are victorious
GOAL: The Goodies’ Amy Golchert prepares to shoot a goal while Blue Cows’ Leann Bryant (GK) tries to stabilise Cris Bryant as he blocks the ball. BLUE Cows have continued their dominance with a decisive 20-point win over The Goodies in clash three of the Gayndah mixed netball season.
Blue Cows president Leanne Bryant said the team may be on track to better their position as last season’s runners-up.
“We’re so far undefeated. We’ve got new recruits and we’re mixing up our positions a bit more,” Bryant said.
Bryant was thrilled to discover new recruit Matt Parkinson who “shoots beautifully” and said the new recruits had dropped the median age of the team.
Blue Cows could “play our own game a little bit” with the experienced players able to slow down the game, she said.
The Goodies captain Dael Giddins said Blue Cows’ key advantages were Cris and Leanne Bryant’s height and rebound ability.
“We need to get in front of players – as they have too much height advantage – to receive the ball,” Giddins said.
Giddins said defence by the Bryants restricted The Goodies’ shooters in the circle.
“Their rebounds were able to get back off our shooters,” Giddins said.
“The Goodies were able to intercept some of their passes down the court between Ben Golchert and Ashley Skinner, but were unable to convert when we got to the circle.”
