ON Monday at Biggenden more bullocks were yarded than at the previous sale but with the decreased quality the market dropped considerably on average although the better bullocks were only five to 10c cheaper.
J & P Slack, Gayndah sold eight tooth Brahman bullocks for 197.2c or $1260. Gracedieu Grazing, Lowmead sold No 2 Brahman bullocks to top at 194.2c or $1052.
Cows suffered also topping at 170.2c for cows over 500kg averaging 23c cheaper.
Cows 400kg to 500kg topped at 165.2c to average 15c cheaper, while light cows under 400kg were 25c cheaper.
Trade heifers were of mixed quality and suffered mixed results topping at 174.2c to average 19c cheaper.
Jensco Grazing, Mt Perry sold Santa cross grain assisted cows for 162.2c or $963, while four tooth heifers topped at 174.2c or $880.
T & B Boyd, South Kolan sold Angus cross cows for 170.2c or $1058.
D Messer, Nikenbah sold Droughtmaster cross cows for 170.2c or $1200, while two and four tooth trade steers and heifers sold from 171.2c to 195.2c or $777 to $1113.
Heavy bulls topped at 176.2c to average 9c cheaper.
The shining light for the day was feeder steers over 350kg with steers 400-500kg topping 211.2c to average 8c dearer.
Steers 300kg to 400kg topped at 209.2c with the steers over 350kg five to 10c dearer and steers 300kg to 350kg being cheaper.
Mostly milk tooth Droughtmaster cross steers on account of Treadstone Training, Mundubbera sold for 211.2c or $946.
Two and four tooth Santa steers on account of BD & EM Power, Gin Gin sold for 210.2c or $917.
SW & CE Tincknell, Avondale sold Droughtmaster milk and two tooth steers from 208.2c to 209.2c or $830 to $887.
Steers under 300kg and weaner steers were cheaper right through and with the dry weather persisting buyers are thin on the ground.
Steers 200kg to 300kg were 10c cheaper and light steers under 200kg were firm. S Marsh & R Clark, Mundubbera sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for 170.2c or $363.
SP Schuh, Eidsvold sold light condition Charbray Brangus cross weaner steers to sell from 173.2c to 201.2c or $278 to $302.
GR & S McGregor, Gayndah sold Droughtmaster cross weaner steers from 165.2c to 171.2c or $311 to $405.
Feeder heifers 300kg to 400kg were mixed quality with a couple of better pens being firm while this weight range was 17c cheaper.
Charbray mostly milk tooth heifers on account of A & A Trigger Grazing, Biggenden sold for 180.2c or $649.
Charbray Senepol cross milk tooth heifers on account of AP & M Sanewski, Booubyjan sold for 184.2c or $573.
Heifers 200kg to 300kg averaged better than expected with some heifers in the weight range being four to six tooth they averaged eight cents cheaper.
Heifers under 200kg averaged nine cents cheaper. C Caruana, South Kolan sold Droughtmaster 12 month old heifers for 162.2c or $469.
G Kerby, Biggenden sold Brangus Droughtmaster cross weaner heifers to top at 168.2c or $376.
Gigoomgan Pastoral, Brooweena sold crossbred weaner heifers for 167.2c or $465.
Brahman weaner heifers on account of Gigoomgan sold for 172.2c or $395. Two x 2 cows and calves were yarded averaging $425.
The 1412 head were drawn from Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Booubyjan, Goomeri, Woolooga, Gunalda, Tiaro, Thinoomba, Yerra, Owanyilla, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Buxton, Childers, Bundaberg, South Kolan, Bucca, Avondale, Rosedale, Lowmead, Miriam Vale, Gin Gin, Booyal and all local areas.
