A good quality yarding of 1155 cattle at Sullivan Livestock’s Gympie Cattle sale saw the market for all store cattle dearer while meatworks cattle remained firm. Cattle were drawn from Eidsvold, Booubyjan, Goomeri, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Maryborough, Aramara, Bauple, Kenilworth, Eumundi and all local areas.
Charbray feeder steers from the Bath family, Greens Creek topped at $2.09 to return $818. Droughtmaster steers from Kewbourne Pty Ltd, Cedar Pocket sold for $2.07 or $832. Droughtmaster steers from Ken Ellis, Maryborough sold for $2.03 to return $777. Brahman steers from HB & D Jamieson, Tiaro sold for $1.98 or $899. Droughtmaster steers from BH & SO Portas, Woolooga sold to a top of $2.09 to return $768. TheWagner Family, Toowoomba sold good quality charbray cross and droughtmaster cross steers 8-12 months, off their Gunalda property, for $2.06 ($648), $1.99 ($478) and $1.92 ($484). Michael Baker ‘Chess Park’, Eidsvold sent down a good quality line of droughtmaster steers selling to a top of $1.94 for three pens. Good quality droughtmaster weaner steers from Dave and Elizabeth Allomes, Miva Homestead sold for $1.99 or $431. Charalois steers from Bob and Sheree McGill ‘Nargoon’ Kilkivan sold for $2.06 or $472.
Limousin cross steers from Kelvin Schroeder sold for $1.91 or $434. Droughtmaster weaner steers from BH and SO Portas sold for $1.98 or $532. Better quality weaners generally sold from $1.80 to $2.06.
Good quality feeder heifers met spirited competition selling to a top of $2.07 for charbray heifers from the Bath Family, Greens Creek to return $790. Charbray heifers from Scotchy Pocket sold for $1.91 to return $611 while their droughtmaster sisters sold for $1.72. Droughtmaster heifers from ‘Chess Park’, Eidsvold sold for $1.98 or $671 and $1.95 ($591). Senepol cross heifers from Ian and Donna Johnston sold for $1.69 to return $485. Droughtmaster weaner heifers from Dave and Elizabeth Allomes sold for $1.87 or $428. Charbray heifers from Mark Hanson, Kin Kin sold for $1.89 or $461. Murray Grey cross heifers from John Shepperson, Kin Kin sold for $1.90 or $430. Droughtmaster cross heifers fromWinton Pieters, Coondoo sold for $1.86 or $380. Better quality and conditioned heifers sold from $1.70 to $1.90, while store types sold from $1.10 to $1.58 depending on quality.
Very few cows and calves were yarded and sold to a top of $650.

Feeder cattle were the highlight once again for the sale held on November 26 in Monto with 600 head yarded.
