A good qual­ity yard­ing of 1155 cat­tle at Sul­li­van Live­stock’s Gympie Cat­tle sale saw the mar­ket for all store cat­tle dearer while meat­works cat­tle re­mained firm. Cat­tle were drawn from Eidsvold, Boouby­jan, Goomeri, Kilki­van, Woolooga, Mary­bor­ough, Ara­mara, Bau­ple, Ke­nil­worth, Eu­mundi and all lo­cal ar­eas.

Char­bray feeder steers from the Bath fam­ily, Greens Creek topped at $2.09 to re­turn $818. Drought­mas­ter steers from Kew­bourne Pty Ltd, Cedar Pocket sold for $2.07 or $832. Drought­mas­ter steers from Ken El­lis, Mary­bor­ough sold for $2.03 to re­turn $777. Brah­man steers from HB & D Jamieson, Tiaro sold for $1.98 or $899. Drought­mas­ter steers from BH & SO Por­tas, Woolooga sold to a top of $2.09 to re­turn $768. TheWag­ner Fam­ily, Toowoomba sold good qual­ity char­bray cross and drought­mas­ter cross steers 8-12 months, off their Gu­nalda prop­erty, for $2.06 ($648), $1.99 ($478) and $1.92 ($484). Michael Baker ‘Chess Park’, Eidsvold sent down a good qual­ity line of drought­mas­ter steers sell­ing to a top of $1.94 for three pens. Good qual­ity drought­mas­ter weaner steers from Dave and El­iz­a­beth Al­lomes, Miva Homestead sold for $1.99 or $431. Char­alois steers from Bob and Sheree McGill ‘Nar­goon’ Kilki­van sold for $2.06 or $472.

Li­mousin cross steers from Kelvin Schroeder sold for $1.91 or $434. Drought­mas­ter weaner steers from BH and SO Por­tas sold for $1.98 or $532. Bet­ter qual­ity wean­ers gen­er­ally sold from $1.80 to $2.06.

Good qual­ity feeder heifers met spir­ited com­pe­ti­tion sell­ing to a top of $2.07 for char­bray heifers from the Bath Fam­ily, Greens Creek to re­turn $790. Char­bray heifers from Scotchy Pocket sold for $1.91 to re­turn $611 while their drought­mas­ter sis­ters sold for $1.72. Drought­mas­ter heifers from ‘Chess Park’, Eidsvold sold for $1.98 or $671 and $1.95 ($591). Senepol cross heifers from Ian and Donna John­ston sold for $1.69 to re­turn $485. Drought­mas­ter weaner heifers from Dave and El­iz­a­beth Al­lomes sold for $1.87 or $428. Char­bray heifers from Mark Han­son, Kin Kin sold for $1.89 or $461. Mur­ray Grey cross heifers from John Shep­per­son, Kin Kin sold for $1.90 or $430. Drought­mas­ter cross heifers fromWin­ton Pi­eters, Coon­doo sold for $1.86 or $380. Bet­ter qual­ity and con­di­tioned heifers sold from $1.70 to $1.90, while store types sold from $1.10 to $1.58 de­pend­ing on qual­ity.

Very few cows and calves were yarded and sold to a top of $650.

Feeder cat­tle were the high­light once again for the sale held on Novem­ber 26 in Monto with 600 head yarded.
