US hol­i­day turns sour as Mark Pitt in­jured

A TRAGIC ac­ci­dent struck down North Bur­nett Re­gional Coun­cil's Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer, Mark Pitt.

Mr Pitt was hit by a car while on hol­i­day in West Lake Cal­i­for­nia in the United States.

About 8pm last Thurs­day (US time) Mr Pitt was struck by the car and sus­tained var­i­ous in­juries in­clud­ing bro­ken bones, grazing and bruised kid­neys.

Mr Pitt was re­leased from an In­ten­sive Care Unit on Satur­day and is now re­cov­er­ing.

“Coun­cil has as­sured Mrs Pitt and the fam­ily that they will pro­vide any support re­quired in deal­ing with this un­for­tu­nate event,” Cr Waugh said.

Mr Pitt’s wife Ni­cola posted on Face­book that Mark was do­ing well and should be back in Aus­tralia soon.

“Up­date on Mark Pitt he’s eat­ing and they are giv­ing him a quick bath and he’s feel­ing a lit­tle more hu­man to­day,” Mrs Pitt posted.

“We hope to have news of the medi­vac soon. Thanks to all for the love and best wishes. We ap­pre­ci­ate your com­ments and con­cern,” Mrs Pitt posted.

“Mark had been plan­ning and sav­ing for this trip for three years,” Cr Whe­lan said.
