US holiday turns sour as Mark Pitt injured
A TRAGIC accident struck down North Burnett Regional Council's Chief Executive Officer, Mark Pitt.
Mr Pitt was hit by a car while on holiday in West Lake California in the United States.
About 8pm last Thursday (US time) Mr Pitt was struck by the car and sustained various injuries including broken bones, grazing and bruised kidneys.
Mr Pitt was released from an Intensive Care Unit on Saturday and is now recovering.

“Council has assured Mrs Pitt and the family that they will provide any support required in dealing with this unfortunate event,” Cr Waugh said.
Mr Pitt’s wife Nicola posted on Facebook that Mark was doing well and should be back in Australia soon.
“Update on Mark Pitt he’s eating and they are giving him a quick bath and he’s feeling a little more human today,” Mrs Pitt posted.
“We hope to have news of the medivac soon. Thanks to all for the love and best wishes. We appreciate your comments and concern,” Mrs Pitt posted.
“Mark had been planning and saving for this trip for three years,” Cr Whelan said.
