Services close during break
DEPARTMENT of Human Services customers will notice some changes to payments and services over the Christmas and new year holiday period.
Department of Human Services general manager Hank Jongen said all service centres and most phone lines providing Centrelink, Medicare and child support services would be closed from December 25–29 and on New Year’s Day.
Mr Jongen said the department’s Express Plus mobile apps and phone self-service options, as well as online services through my Gov, would still be available every day.
Mr Jongen said people could transfer funds to their Basics Card on public holidays by phoning 1800 132 594 from 8am–5pm, and Basics Card balances could be checked any time by phoning 1800 057 111.
He said essential 24/7 Medicare Provider Services for doctors would remain open and available during Christmas/new year. More information is available at www.humanservices.gov .au/holidays.
