Ser­vices close dur­ing break

DEPART­MENT of Hu­man Ser­vices cus­tomers will no­tice some changes to pay­ments and ser­vices over the Christ­mas and new year hol­i­day pe­riod.

Depart­ment of Hu­man Ser­vices gen­eral man­ager Hank Jon­gen said all ser­vice cen­tres and most phone lines pro­vid­ing Cen­tre­link, Medi­care and child support ser­vices would be closed from De­cem­ber 25–29 and on New Year’s Day.

Mr Jon­gen said the depart­ment’s Ex­press Plus mo­bile apps and phone self-ser­vice op­tions, as well as on­line ser­vices through my Gov, would still be avail­able ev­ery day.

Mr Jon­gen said peo­ple could trans­fer funds to their Ba­sics Card on pub­lic hol­i­days by phon­ing 1800 132 594 from 8am–5pm, and Ba­sics Card bal­ances could be checked any time by phon­ing 1800 057 111.

He said es­sen­tial 24/7 Medi­care Provider Ser­vices for doc­tors would re­main open and avail­able dur­ing Christ­mas/new year. More in­for­ma­tion is avail­able at www.hu­manser­vices.gov .au/hol­i­days.
