Central and North Burnett Times - - ADVICE, TRUST, CARE: FOR YOUR HEALTH -

THE secret to burning off those extra Christmas kilos is to avoid eating and drinking to excess.

Exercise and Sports Science Australia’s executive officer Anita Hobson-Powell said keeping exercise and eating habits in check was easier than shifting kilos afterwards.

Ms Hobson-Powell has five tips to beat the Christmas bulge.

Break out the backyard cricket – this fave Aussie pastime is fun for all the family.

Talk and walk – during your next phone chat, wander around the house or do simple squats or lunges to burn calories at the same time.

Dance to your own beat – crank up the tunes while baking and dance away.

Prevent temptation – fuel up with a healthy meal before going Christmas shopping, and serve healthy snacks at home.

Keep up healthy habits – keep up your exercise routine and jazz it up to make it fun.
