Handpicked vineyards a winner
IF YOU are like many wine drinkers who select your wines mainly by region then the Handpicked Wines label is sure to have you puzzled.
One day you may discover a great Handpicked wine from Tasmania and the next you’ll be delighted with a wine they produced in Central Otago.
Their bold idea has been to find great parcels of lands in different regions and try and grow the best wine they can.
While this obviously brings with it many logistical issues, the concept has produced great results.
Handpicked Wines managing director William Dong said they don’t limit themselves to one region or style.
“Our wines are crafted to ensure they reflect the character of their region and our fruit is sourced through established partnerships with highly respected vignerons in premium wine regions around the world from Bordeaux to the Barossa,” he said.
Handpicked’s Australian vineyards are in the Barossa Valley, Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula.
The label continues to evolve under the direction of leading winemaker Gary Baldwin, who travels the globe overseeing quality in their vineyards, wineries and cellars.
