Central and North Burnett Times - - VOICE OF THE BURNETT -

IT’S the holiday season, we are rural communities, the kids are home and the city cousins and grandchildren are visiting and enjoying their time on the farm. Potentially a recipe for disaster.

A South Burnett boy is the latest victim to be injured in a quad bike accident on late Tuesday.

He was airlifted by the Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue to Brisbane with multiple injuries.

Quad bike incidents are the leading cause of injury and deaths on Australia farms.

The Heads of Workplace Safety Authority is working to develop a series of recommendations to reduce these numbers, including training, wearing of helmets and that children should not operate adult-sized quad bikes.
