Queensland on track to reach production target, says McVeigh
AGRICULTURE minister John McVeigh said the state was on track to reach its ambitious target of doubling agricultural production by 2040.
“This is a long-term goal for agriculture and we have a strong plan to achieve this target,” Mr McVeigh said.
“We have released our 30 year agriculture strategy and the first State of Agriculture Report to begin tracking our progress towards our goal of doubling agriculture production by 2040.”
The minister said the department would continue to work with farmers and the industry to help boost production and cut red tape for farmers.
“Only under a Newman LNP government will farmers have certainty as well as clear, industry-supported long-term plans to boost production and profitability,” Mr McVeigh said.
“We are addressing input costs for farmers, such as electricity, through initiatives likes our Agriculture Energy Council and practical research through our Energy Savers Plus Program.”
