THE rain started to fall as the first TopX Eidsvold cat­tle sale for 2015 com­menced.

It was an in­spir­ing start to the year with an in­crease in prices and con­fi­dence in the mar­ket.

Steers over 400kg sold to 264c/kg and av­er­aged 230c/kg, while steers over 300kg earned to 266c/kg and av­er­aged 238c/kg.

Steers in the 200-300kg range reached 272c/kg to av­er­age 244c/kg. Heifers over 300kg earned to 219c/kg to av­er­age 198c/kg while heifers in the 200-300kg range sold to 242c/kg and av­er­aged 218c/kg.

RN and VR Horn, Tawarri, Cra­cow, sold steers 264c/kg for 428kg to re­turn $1125 per head.

Gar­ryWalsh, Win­wood, Eidsvol,sold bran­gus cross steers to 272c/kg for 263kg to re­turn $717 per head.

Web­ster Grazing, She­p­rock, Eidsvold, sold bran­gus heifers 219c/kg for 336kg to re­turn $970 per head.

HK Dwyer, Biggen­den, sold char­bray cross heifers 225c/kg for 251kg to re­turn $565 per head.

TV and LB Haupt, Eidsvold, sold char­bray cross EU heifers 223c/kg for 235kg to re­turn $524 per head.

The next sale will be the TopX Eidsvold and Greenup Eidsvold Sta­tion Santa In­fused Show Sale on the Fe­bru­ary 19 with the nor­mal store sale to follow di­rectly after the show sale.

MONTO Cat­tle and Coun­try kicked off their cat­tle sales with a cracker sale held on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 21.

Gen­eral falls of eight to 14 inches of rain over the Christ­mas pe­riod saw buyer con­fi­dence rise.

Cat­tle were drawn from Boyne Val­ley, Biloela, Har­rami and Monto dis­tricts.

Bulls sold from 147c/kg to 200c/kg.

BE and SP Myles penned braford brah­man cross bul­locks 614kg which made 238c/kg or $1463.

SM Schimke sold drought­mas­ter cross steers 525kg to 229c/kg or $1205.

Si­mon Stan­hope sold a run of four and six tooth brah­man steers to av­er­age 436kg to av­er­age 225c/kg or $980.

Bob Schutt sold 462kg drought­mas­ter steers to 239c/kg or $1106.

Spelta Grazing penned 542kg charo­lais cross cows which sold to 215c/kg or $1167.

Moretti and Son sold santa cows 554kg to 205c/kg or $1140.

George and Inga Au­gen­stein sold sim­brah cows 510kg to 216c/kg or $1100.

K and T Gil­vear sold brah­man trade heifers 422kg to 237c/kg or $1000.

Sandy Mun­tel­wit's light trade heifers 385kg sold for 221c/kg or $850.

RJ, MA and MJ Dunn sold qual­ity No 3 santa steers 426kg for 258c/kg or $1100.

Ashen­hurst Pas­toral, Ubobo, sold No 3 droughtie cross steers 350kg and 376kg for 255c/kg top­ping at $960.

Shayne and He­len Moss­man, Yal­warra, Ubobo, sold three pens or bran­gus and brah­man cross No 3 steers from 249c to 253c/kg top­ping at $955.

Neville and Jenny Keit­ley's char­bray and droughtie cross No 3 steers sold to 260c/kg or $997.

Lighter No 4 santa steers 303kg on ac­count of Daphne Mor­gan sold to 278c/kg or $843.

Peter Ad­cock's red bran­gus santa cross No 4 steers 275kg re­alised 280c/kg or $772.

R and L Bly­ton's char­bray weaner steers 270kg sold to 282c/kg or $766.

Shayne and He­len Moss­man's light con­di­tioned No 4 brah­man cross steers sold to 240c/kg or $600.

Ashen­hurst Pas­toral's drought­mas­ter cross weaner steers sold to 256c/kg or $610.

Kurt and Tracey Myles sold char­bray weaner steers 238kg for 277c/kg or $660.

Larsen Farms also sold char­bray weaner steers 209kg for 270c/kg or $522.

The last pen of weaner steers for the day ac­count Shayne and He­len Moss­man sold for $522 at 270c/kg.

Birch Pas­toral yarded qual­ity 382kg droughtie heifers which re­turned $915 or 239c/kg.

PF and DF Ad­cock sold red bran­gus No 4 heifers 368kg for 239c/kg or $880 and 250kg heifers for 230c/kg re­turn­ing $580.

Larsen Farms sold qual­ity char­bray heifers about 340kg for 238c/kg or $812 and weaner heifers for $480 or 229c/kg.

Pet­des Pty Ltd sold a qual­ity run of droughtie red brah­man cross No 4 heifers to av­er­age $512 or 205c/kg.

SP and HO Moss­man sold a run of bran­gus, droughtie and brah­man cross No 4 heifers from 189c to 198c/kg top­ping at $480.

BJ and AJ Dent's Bran­gus weaner heifers sold to 229c/kg or $545.

Monto's next sale will be held on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 4, at 9am.
