Join fundrais­ing fun for Blaze Aid

THE amount of fenc­ing Blaze Aid has done in about a month would stretch from “Monto to Biloela and be­yond”.

Monto Magic Tourism Ac­tion Group be­lieves a work ethic like that de­serves sup­port so is putting on Cash for a Cause, a fam­ily fun night and a mon­ster auc­tion, at the show­grounds from 4pm this Satur­day to raise money for Blaze Aid.

Monto Magic vice pres­i­dent Brett Allen said he was look­ing for­ward to hav­ing some fun dur­ing the mon­ster auc­tion.

“Peo­ple should come along for a fun, lo­cal evening and sup­port peo­ple who, with­out them, farm­ers would not have been able to re­pair so much fenc­ing,” he said.

“The amount of fenc­ing cleared and new fenc­ing put up would stretch from Monto to Biloela and be­yond. They have done a lot in a short time.”

Among the items set to go un­der the ham­mer is a hol­i­day at Dunes in 1770, four VIP passes to the Gold Coast theme parks in­clud­ing he­li­copter rides, stock feed and wine packs.

“There are a lot of peo­ple sup­port­ing in their own ways. Busi­ness own­ers for ex­am­ple are pay­ing their staff to help or­gan­ise the func­tion,” he said.

“Butch­ers have been cut­ting up do­nated beasts for free.”

Mr Allen also said there were more than 3000 peo­ple camped out at the two Ca­nia car­a­van parks for the Easter week­end, and he hoped to see many of them come along.

“It’s a re­ally big op­por­tu­nity for us to show th­ese vis­i­tors what our lit­tle town can do,” he said.
