Mt Perry FM
MT PERRY may have its own community FM radio station by mid-year.
Spokesman Terry Rundell said a five-year community radio licence was on hold with the Australian Communications and Media Authority, pending the outcome of a grant to buy broadcast equipment.
“We could be on air within the month or six weeks of obtaining the grant (if successful), and we would need to do a lot of testing (of equipment) before going ahead,” he said.
“The whole idea was to get out to the people who were isolated between Mt Perry and Bundaberg who have no radio, TV or mobile.
“We would also do a ‘women in isolation’ program for women on cattle stations, and indigenous programs.”
