Man fined for failing to stop for police, obstructing police, weapons offences
A MAN who threw a rifle from his vehicle while attempting to escape police has faced court for his actions.
Eddie Ebborn appeared in Maryborough Magistrates Court on March 31 for a number of serious charges committed on January 28, 2015.
The 59-year-old Didcot man was sought by police after they received a call about an unlawful shooting on Wateranga Rd, Didcot.
The court heard that when they located Ebborn’s vehicle, he attempted to drive away from police.
Police then observed a large rifle get thrown from the passenger window of the vehicle while it was moving.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop and police presented firearms and Ebborn was removed from the vehicle and arrested.
Ebborn was found guilty for failing to stop for police, obstructing police and unlawful weapons and ammunition charges.
He was convicted and fined $3100.
Ebborn’s partner, 53-year-old Leeanne Christensen, was in the vehicle at the time and was also charged with obstruct police.
She was fined $600, with no conviction recorded.
