Man fined for fail­ing to stop for po­lice, ob­struct­ing po­lice, weapons of­fences

A MAN who threw a ri­fle from his ve­hi­cle while at­tempt­ing to es­cape po­lice has faced court for his ac­tions.

Ed­die Eb­born ap­peared in Mary­bor­ough Mag­is­trates Court on March 31 for a num­ber of se­ri­ous charges com­mit­ted on Jan­uary 28, 2015.

The 59-year-old Did­cot man was sought by po­lice af­ter they re­ceived a call about an un­law­ful shoot­ing on Wat­eranga Rd, Did­cot.

The court heard that when they lo­cated Eb­born’s ve­hi­cle, he at­tempted to drive away from po­lice.

Po­lice then ob­served a large ri­fle get thrown from the pas­sen­ger win­dow of the ve­hi­cle while it was mov­ing.

The ve­hi­cle even­tu­ally came to a stop and po­lice pre­sented firearms and Eb­born was re­moved from the ve­hi­cle and ar­rested.

Eb­born was found guilty for fail­ing to stop for po­lice, ob­struct­ing po­lice and un­law­ful weapons and am­mu­ni­tion charges.

He was con­victed and fined $3100.

Eb­born’s part­ner, 53-year-old Leeanne Chris­tensen, was in the ve­hi­cle at the time and was also charged with ob­struct po­lice.

She was fined $600, with no con­vic­tion recorded.
