Eljay brings his bag of tricks
STUNT bike rider Eljay Driessens’ favourite trick, where he launches his bike up the side of a truck, is called The Splat.
But despite the dangerous title, the entertainer said he had never crashed during a performance.
“Occasionally a bike snaps a chain and we look pretty silly,” he said.
“And we have definitely had some good accidents offstage before.”
Eljay, and his partner in crime Nathan “Mad Dog” Mummery, will hit the Monto Show this year with their Eljay’s Freestyle Entertainment act.
“We are a motorbike and trail bike stunt show and also a comedy show,” Eljay said.
“We talk with the crowd, make a lot of fun of each other and tell a lot of dad jokes.”

most people, let alone while doing stunts, Eljay said both skill sets came naturally to the duo.
They each have more than 35 years of experience riding bikes and have represented their country in championship events, before forming Eljay’s Freestyle Entertainment in 1997.
“I think we are naturally quite comic people,” Eljay said.
Despite being on the road for nearly 20 years, the act has never stopped at Monto before.
“We can’t wait to get out there,” Eljay said.
