‘A beef machine’
HAMILTON Park Katy Perry and Whitaker Mr E’Vo beat a strong field of 128 stud cattle to take out the Supreme Champion titles at the Gayndah Show.
Owner Clint Whitaker said Whitaker Mr E’vo’s title as supreme stud beef exhibit marked a successful start to the 2015 show season.
“Co-judges Ross and Paula Warren from Elridge Charolais at Gympie praised the bull as ‘a beef machine’,” Mr Whitaker said.
Whitaker Brahman Stud co-principal Robyn Whitaker said she was extremely proud of the fourth-generation red-bred bull.
“He’s a great example of the strength of red brahman our foundation dam (and Mr E’Vo’s great-grand-dam) Whitaker Maggie has produced for us,” she said.
“Whitaker Mr E’Vo is no newcomer to red, white and blue ribbons with successes this year including Grand Tropical Bull at Bell Show, Supreme Exhibit at Proston Show and Grand Champion Brahman Bull at Toowoomba Royal.”
Named Supreme Champion of Opposite Sex, Hamilton Park Katy Perry also impressed the judges.
The 14-month-old romagnola heifer is owned by Matt and Anna Ahern, of Romagnola Beef Genetics.
“Romagnola cattle originate from Italy and are a European breed with a bos indicus ancestry,” Mr Ahern said.
“They are able to handle tougher country, the heat and parasites, making them an ideal crossbreeding sire to produce heavy flat-backed progeny.
“A lot of people in this area haven’t seen a lot of romagnola cattle, so it was a good opportunity for us to show them off.
“We received a lot of interest in our cattle and came away with some very good wins.”
