Meat­works heifers up 28c at Biggen­den sale

BUR­NETT Live­stock and Re­alty’s meat­works and store sale on Thurs­day April 9saw a yard­ing of 951 head.

Be­cause of rain in some re­gions of Queens­land plus a short kill week the meat­works mar­ket saw a pos­i­tive surge in prices.

The bul­lock mar­ket saw a rise of 23 cents. Cows saw im­prove­ments of 13c to 21c and meat­works heifers topped at 230c be­ing 28c dearer than the last sale. Meat­works bulls sold from 172c to 220c or $711 to $2091 depend­ing on weight and qual­ity.

Heavy feeder steers sold at pre-Christ­mas rates to top at 255c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to top at 253c. In the feeder heifers sec­tion, the mar­ket saw a re­cov­ery of 10c to 20c to top at 230c. In the weaner heifer sec­tion the mar­ket dras­ti­cally im­proved 33c com­pared to the last sale.

Cat­tle were drawn from Theodore, Monto, Thee­bine, Bund­aberg, Tak­il­beran, Bin­jour, Mun­dub­bera, Mt Perry, Rosedale, Her­vey Bay, Gympie, Mary­bor­ough, Moore Park, Cordalba and all lo­cal ar­eas.

Mario Cic­cone, Bund­aberg sold Drought­mas­ter bul­locks for 235c or $1428. Heavy Drought­mas­ter cross bul­locks from Bin­jour sold for 226c or $1568. Mooru Graz­ing, Tak­il­beran sold Sim­men­tal cross bul­locks for 231c or $1441. Av­o­cado Acres, Childers sold Brah­man two and four tooth steers for 234c or $1188.

JM Urquhart, Biggen­den sold Brah­man cows for 197c or $937. RJ & KJ Pre­ston, Eidsvold sold Sim­brah cows for 192c or $1127. Koatanui Pas­toral, Eidsvold sold Brah­man cows for 197c or $1033. LK & SA Mit­tel­heuser, Wallav­ille sold Drought­mas­ter cross cows for 195c or $1083. JC Sei­d­ner, Gayn­dah sold Char­bray two tooth heifers for 220c or $873. RJ & KJ Pre­ston, Eidsvold sold Sim­brah six tooth heifers for 219c or $1359. Most meat­works cows sold from 175c to 195c and store cows sold from 150c to 165c.

IA & MW Innes, Gin Gin sold Drought­mas­ter cross two tooth steers from 254c or $1184. CW Hock­ing, Mun­dub­bera sold Char­bray milk tooth steers for 251c or $1065. NT & DA McEvoy, Bund­aberg sold Brah­man two tooth steers for 249c or $1055. Peter Wright, Booyal sold two tooth Drought­mas­ter steers for 248c or $978. Scott McCarthy, Mun­dub­bera sold Char­bray steers for 242c or $894. Well Sta­tion Part­ners, Mun­dub­bera sold milk tooth Drought­mas­ter and red An­gus cross steers for 251c or $813. Santa cross two tooth steers topped at 239c or $1196. Most feeder steers sold from 210c to 240c. Scott McCarthy, Mun­dub­bera sold Char­bray weaner steers for 246c or $778. Bob Wondrock, Bar­gara sold Charo­lais cross weaner steers for 253c or $685. Over­all, weaner steers sold from 200c to 240c.

GL Din­gle, Mt Perry sold milk tooth Bran­gus heifers for 230c or $940. A & VE McIn­tyre, Gin Gin sold Sim­men­tal cross milk tooth heifers for 229c or $780. Santa cross two tooth heifers from Eidsvold topped at 222c or $842. Brah­man milk tooth heifers from Theodore sold to a top of 213c or $578. Most feeder heifers sold from 185c to 215c. Austin & Min­ni­con, Niken­bah sold Char­bray cross weaner heifers for 213c or $522. A & VE McIn­tyre, Gin Gin sold Sim­men­tal weaner heifers for 214c or $602. Most weaner heifers sold from 200c to 215c and the lesser qual­ity from 160c to 180c.

Nether­cote & Lee, Ban Ban Springs sold cows and calves for $970. GL Din­gle, Mt Perry sold Bran­gus cows and calves for $960. All other cows and calves from $600 to $900.

The next sale will be on Mon­day April 20.
