Meatworks heifers up 28c at Biggenden sale
BURNETT Livestock and Realty’s meatworks and store sale on Thursday April 9saw a yarding of 951 head.
Because of rain in some regions of Queensland plus a short kill week the meatworks market saw a positive surge in prices.
The bullock market saw a rise of 23 cents. Cows saw improvements of 13c to 21c and meatworks heifers topped at 230c being 28c dearer than the last sale. Meatworks bulls sold from 172c to 220c or $711 to $2091 depending on weight and quality.
Heavy feeder steers sold at pre-Christmas rates to top at 255c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to top at 253c. In the feeder heifers section, the market saw a recovery of 10c to 20c to top at 230c. In the weaner heifer section the market drastically improved 33c compared to the last sale.
Cattle were drawn from Theodore, Monto, Theebine, Bundaberg, Takilberan, Binjour, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Rosedale, Hervey Bay, Gympie, Maryborough, Moore Park, Cordalba and all local areas.
Mario Ciccone, Bundaberg sold Droughtmaster bullocks for 235c or $1428. Heavy Droughtmaster cross bullocks from Binjour sold for 226c or $1568. Mooru Grazing, Takilberan sold Simmental cross bullocks for 231c or $1441. Avocado Acres, Childers sold Brahman two and four tooth steers for 234c or $1188.
JM Urquhart, Biggenden sold Brahman cows for 197c or $937. RJ & KJ Preston, Eidsvold sold Simbrah cows for 192c or $1127. Koatanui Pastoral, Eidsvold sold Brahman cows for 197c or $1033. LK & SA Mittelheuser, Wallaville sold Droughtmaster cross cows for 195c or $1083. JC Seidner, Gayndah sold Charbray two tooth heifers for 220c or $873. RJ & KJ Preston, Eidsvold sold Simbrah six tooth heifers for 219c or $1359. Most meatworks cows sold from 175c to 195c and store cows sold from 150c to 165c.

NT & DA McEvoy, Bundaberg sold Brahman two tooth steers for 249c or $1055. Peter Wright, Booyal sold two tooth Droughtmaster steers for 248c or $978. Scott McCarthy, Mundubbera sold Charbray steers for 242c or $894. Well Station Partners, Mundubbera sold milk tooth Droughtmaster and red Angus cross steers for 251c or $813. Santa cross two tooth steers topped at 239c or $1196. Most feeder steers sold from 210c to 240c. Scott McCarthy, Mundubbera sold Charbray weaner steers for 246c or $778. Bob Wondrock, Bargara sold Charolais cross weaner steers for 253c or $685. Overall, weaner steers sold from 200c to 240c.
GL Dingle, Mt Perry sold milk tooth Brangus heifers for 230c or $940. A & VE McIntyre, Gin Gin sold Simmental cross milk tooth heifers for 229c or $780. Santa cross two tooth heifers from Eidsvold topped at 222c or $842. Brahman milk tooth heifers from Theodore sold to a top of 213c or $578. Most feeder heifers sold from 185c to 215c. Austin & Minnicon, Nikenbah sold Charbray cross weaner heifers for 213c or $522. A & VE McIntyre, Gin Gin sold Simmental weaner heifers for 214c or $602. Most weaner heifers sold from 200c to 215c and the lesser quality from 160c to 180c.
Nethercote & Lee, Ban Ban Springs sold cows and calves for $970. GL Dingle, Mt Perry sold Brangus cows and calves for $960. All other cows and calves from $600 to $900.
