Veggies thrive in cold climate
FRUIT and vegetables are not immune to seasonal changes, and with winter looming, different colours should start to line the pantry.
Murgon Fruit Mart owner Paul Brunjes said the majority of the citrus fruits were going out of season but it was prime time for a lot of vegetables.
“Growing conditions for cauliflower and broccoli are looking up,” he said.
“When it’s too hot the sun burns the top of them.
“But now it’s getting colder so they’ll be in their prime.”
He said although avocados were available all year round, they were coming into season now. This month: 6.65 Movement: 1.41 This month: 3.65 Movement: 4.57
