GAYNDAH Gladiators showed their fighting spirit to achieve a definitive 28-8 win against the Eidsvold Eagles on Friday night.

One Eagles player was walked off the field with an injury early in the first half, while his teammates ran a determined defence, which prevented the Gladiators from scoring.

Blake Popp scored first for the Eagles 14 minutes into the game.

Late in the first half Gladiators Josh Robertson and Shane Morgan each scored a try, and both were converted by Ben Kenny.

This gave the Gladiators a firm 12-4 lead going into the break.

Announcer Vinnie Schmierer said Eidsvold were the first to score in the second half due to a favourable bounce of the ball.

“Gayndah gained momentum and strategically worked their way into the match, coming away with a much-needed win,” Schmierer said.

The Gladiators’ Ben Kenny again converted two tries in the second half for his team to win 28-8.
