Skate park opened
THE Mt Perry Skate Park was opened on Saturday.
To see so many different groups come together for fundraising and general camaraderie is a true gauge of the strength of the community.
Full marks to the leadership of Cr John Bowen which was fully recognised on the day. The park was officially opened by the member for Bundaberg Leanne Donaldson, in recognition of the contribution from the State Government and in the unavoidable absence of our local member Jeff Seeney.
With the Orange Festival only a few short weeks away, it is great to see residents getting into the spirit and becoming involved.
The poles that have already been painted look terrific and are a credit to the small committee who organise and run the event. With the Gayndah Races and the State of Oranges League match on the same weekend, it will be great to be part of.
Cr Whelan and myself, with councillors Bowen, Wendt and Francis, had a meeting with TSBE Group CEO Shane Charles who work out of Wellcamp Airport and is involved with exports to Asian countries. Hopefully we can become involved and give access to our producers. Anybody wishing to learn more is very welcome to contact me.
Mark Pitt, our CEO, has returned to work this week and it is good to see how well he has recovered. David Wiskar has stood in for Mark over that period and filled the position excellently.
Full marks to the committees who keep the shows running in each town and the many competitors. Monto and Eidsvold have had their events and it leaves Mundubbera and Biggenden to complete the North Burnett circuit.
