GERBERAS are proliferating in Shirley and Bob Baldwin’s Bundaberg garden.
“We’ve been growing gerberas for quite a number of years,” Mrs Baldwin said.
“As we’re getting older instead of getting less, we’re getting more.”
Their hobby has spilled over into a passion for exhibiting them at shows, including Mt Perry.
“We grow hundreds – we grow all different types (such as) hybrids and Bauer gerberas,” she said.
“There’s a lot of tri-colour (flowers and) people have all different opinions of the new ones.
“The hardest part is getting them here; packing them not to rub together,” she said.
“We only grow it as a hobby (and) people are trying to contact us after all these shows.”
Not surprising as their champion gerberas delighted flower judges Jocelyn Robertson and Dot Ford.
