Brumbies fall short to Ants

Central and North Burnett Times - - JUNIOR SPORT -

TOUGH RUN: The Brumbies come together to strategise. THE U12 Central Burnett Brumbies not only fell short on players, they also fell short on the scoreboard against the Kingaroy Red Ants.

Wide Bay league trials, the Munduberra Show and injuries hammered the Brumbies’ team sheet.

Brumbies’ coach Steve Trott said they did the best they could in their 26-10 loss.

“Things happen. They did well with 12 players,” he said.

“We had 10 or so players who were injured, at the show or at the U11Wide Bay trials.”

While the Red Ants were also short of players, they were stronger.

The Red Ants’ backline stepped up their defence, which allowed the forwards to break through.

ABOVE: The under-gunned Brumbies front up for another play. BELOW: Latisha Petit chases hard.

Brumbies' Matt Roth stops Harry Flynn in his tracks.

Myles Polzein charges ahead.
