New rego option

RACQ has welcomed confirmation Queensland motorists will soon have the option of paying car registration quarterly, using direct debit.

RACQ Executive Manager Public Policy Michael Roth said the move was a win for RACQ and all Queensland motorists.

“As the State’s peak motoring body, this is something we have been calling on the Queensland Government to provide for a long time,” he said.

“The option of quarterly car registration payments through direct debit will go a long way to reducing pressure on the household budget for many families.

“This, coupled with the fact that it’s now easy for people to check online when their rego is due, is another safeguard for motorists worried about forgetting to pay on time now car labels have been phased out.

“Additionally, we’re pleased to see the government is set to reduce the surcharge for six-monthly fees to $12.60.”
