Cracking way to end show season
WITH Biggenden Show being held last week-end, it brings to an end the show circuit in the North Burnett. I have nothing but praise for the executive and members who keep the shows running each year and allow people to display their produce and skills in the many aspects of country life.
The Acting Commissioner of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, John Bolger, called together a number of officers of local brigades in Eidsvold last weekend to award them for outstanding service at heavy vehicle crashes and devastating fires in the region. He was lavish in his praise of the local people and their support staff. With the high quality of the officers and the support of council, better training will be held in the region to cater for a bigger area in the future. Police, SES, Ambulance and rural officers were present and together make up the full family of emergency services who do a magnificent job.
It was great to be present at the distribution of awards to the many people across the region who have been part of volunteer groups in the many towns.
Many have been working for the community for many years and some for several organisations.
The Australian Fishing Championships are being held at Cania Dam from May 20-24 and will attract competitors from overseas as well.
Full marks to the Bundaberg and North Burnett Tourist Association for their support and promotion of the region. Mundubbera BP
