JAPAN has a thirst for fishing and Hideyuki Nomura has tapped into it with Japan’s largest fishing magazine – and Monto will be a part of its number one feature.

Mr Nomura said this event was the “real deal”, with millions of people throughout the world tuning in to watch the action.

“There will be a lot of Japanese people wanting to come and fish here in Cania because they have seen Takuma Hata fishing here,” he said.

“I am working with the Japanese film crew and the Queensland Government to show Japan what Hata is doing in Australia.”

Mr Nomura, who is the Editor in Chief of Lure Magazine, said the fishing industry in Japan was enormous, with most people having a rod and reel.

“On the island of Honshu, we have a lake in the centre, where the world record fresh water fish was caught and that was a big mouth bass.”

The Australian Fishing Championship Series, now in its 12th year, has pioneered the development of putting fishing on TV as sport and successfully attracted global fishing, boating and automotive companies, enabling the series to be produced to a world class standard.
