Young golfer to represent Wide Bay in Cairns
GOLFING talent Bailey Kimber is off to Cairns in July to representWide Bay.
Bailey is one of seven boys and five girls who will play in the All Schools State Golf Championships.
Mundubbera Golf Club is right behind Bailey and last Sunday held a two ball ambrose to raise funds to help him pay for his trip.
Bailey said he was thrilled when the club decided to help him out and he was grateful to the 40 golfers who turned out to play on the day.
“So many businesses in Mundubbera have banded together to donate prizes for the tournament. It is amazing how the community has got behind me,” he said.
“I have been practising so hard for weeks now and I don’t want to let down the people who have supported me.”
Bailey said his game had been improving with all the practice he had been putting in.
“Now I have to work on my fitness because I will have to walk around the Cairns course for four days in a row,” he said.
“I am not allowed to have a buggy or a caddy.”
Bailey is the 2015 Club Champion and was the youngest player ever to take this title.
