Chop­pers vie for po­si­tion on in­ter­na­tional stage

CHAS­ING THE PRIZE: The over­all win­ner at the fi­nal will rep­re­sent Australia, in the in­di­vid­ual com­pe­ti­tion, at the 2015 Stihl Tim­ber­sports World Cham­pi­onships in Poland. TWO North Bur­nett men aim to cut through the com­pe­ti­tion for the chance to rep­re­sent Australia in an in­ter­na­tional wood­chop­ping event.

Danny Staib and Brodie Din­gle are reg­u­lars in wood­chop events in re­gional shows and will take on fel­low ax­e­men from across the state.

The first ever Aus­tralian Stihl Tim­ber­sports Se­ries will have its own state heat at CRT Far­mFest in Toowoomba from June 2-4.

All com­peti­tors will have their eye on the prize – a po­si­tion on the Aus­tralian team head­ing to the Stihl Tim­ber­sport­sWorld Cham­pi­onships in Poland in Novem­ber. Fans in Europe and the US have wit­nessed the

Now Aussies have their own se­ries to com­pete against the best of our home-grown tal­ent.

The Queens­land heat will have

Brodie Din­gle. 10 com­peti­tors from across the state battle it out over six dis­ci­plines (three axe and three saw) for a spot in the fi­nal.

First and sec­ond place win­ners will au­to­mat­i­cally go into the fi­nal in Bathurst, NSW in Oc­to­ber, while com­peti­tors fin­ish­ing third and fourth will battle through a qual­i­fy­ing round for a spot in the fi­nal.

Dig­i­tal and brand ac­ti­va­tion manager for Stihl, Lee Gooch­said, said it was ex­cit­ing to bring this world-renowned event to Australia.

“It’s been a long time com­ing but now Aus­tralian Stihl Tim­ber­sports en­thu­si­asts can en­joy a thrilling an­nual event,” he said.

“By hav­ing our own se­ries, we open up the play­ing field to wel­come new tal­ent to the sport.”
