New teachers and new classes at Biggenden
DUE to staff changes, the Biggenden State School will welcome three new faces to the classrooms next semester.
Design and technology teacher Geoff Parker is retiring and will be replaced by Cameron Svery, who will visit the school in the coming weeks.
Jasmine Taylor is taking 12 months leave to travel overseas and teach. She will be replaced by Peggy Kao, a maths/science teacher who is also excited about relocating to Biggenden.
With the increase in enrolments, Yolandi Schefe will join the primary staff.
The increase of primary numbers now means there will be five primary classes which means a restructuring of classes.
Prep students were fortunate to have representatives from the Queensland Fire Brigade visit to talk about fire safety and what to do in case of a fire emergency.
They were shown inside the fire truck, had a go at holding the fire hose and practiced fire safety procedures.
Year 9-10 students travelled to Bundaberg for the careers expo and to visit the Friendly Society Hospital.
