New teach­ers and new classes at Biggen­den

DUE to staff changes, the Biggen­den State School will wel­come three new faces to the class­rooms next se­mes­ter.

De­sign and tech­nol­ogy teacher Ge­off Parker is re­tir­ing and will be re­placed by Cameron Svery, who will visit the school in the com­ing weeks.

Jas­mine Tay­lor is tak­ing 12 months leave to travel over­seas and teach. She will be re­placed by Peggy Kao, a maths/sci­ence teacher who is also ex­cited about re­lo­cat­ing to Biggen­den.

With the in­crease in en­rol­ments, Yolandi Schefe will join the pri­mary staff.

The in­crease of pri­mary num­bers now means there will be five pri­mary classes which means a re­struc­tur­ing of classes.

Prep stu­dents were for­tu­nate to have rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Queens­land Fire Brigade visit to talk about fire safety and what to do in case of a fire emer­gency.

They were shown in­side the fire truck, had a go at hold­ing the fire hose and prac­ticed fire safety pro­ce­dures.

Year 9-10 stu­dents trav­elled to Bund­aberg for the ca­reers expo and to visit the Friendly So­ci­ety Hospi­tal.
