THE longstanding Gayndah Arts Council, affiliated with broader Queensland Arts Council/Arts Link, needs some support from former and hopefully new members to remain viable.

While no longer able to bring touring performers to town as in former days, our current Arts Council continues to make a worthwhile contribution to Gayndah and the wider community.

An ongoing role of the Council is to provide the required funds to keep the Gayndah Choir going, and oversee its activities.

In the last 12 months the choir has been busy with a successful "Christmas in July" concert and an outdoors event, "Music under the Trees", celebrating the 25th birthday of the Les Baker Bridge over the Burnett in Gayndah. December found the choir doing performances of Christmas music at Gayndah and Binjour. Gayndah's current Musicom production, "The Three Musketeers", involving both Burnett State College and community members, is progressing under the umbrella of the local Arts Council.

Its administration being the responsibility of a subcommittee of that Council.

Our choir members are enjoying learning the songs for this production, and are looking forward to being part of the performances in the first week of June.

The Arts Council's next meeting will be on the 26th July.
