Monto yards 1240 head for Char­bray sale

CHAR­BRAY So­ci­ety pres­i­dent Les Mar­shall Green­fields Jam­bin was ex­tremely pleased with the yard­ing and prices at the In­au­gu­ral Char­bray & Char­bray In­fused Prime and store show sale held in con­junc­tion with Monto Cat­tle and Country. 1240 head were yarded. Lo­cal gra­zier and stud prin­ci­pal Steve Pailthorpe of Rangeview Char­bray’s won Over­all Cham­pion Pen of Steers with 465kg No 5 steers which re­turned $1400/head. Guest judge Wayne Davis, Mur­gon ad­dressed the large crowd and com­mended ven­dors on the qual­ity cat­tle yarded. Top gong in the fe­male sec­tion went to Bev and Roy Mar­bach’s No 5 heifers which sold to lo­cal char­bray pro­duc­ers Larsen Farms for $1130 or 282c/kg. Re­serve cham­pion steers and weaner steer class win­ners were DA and RW Brown Glen­leigh Theodore with the qual­ity steers re­turn­ing $1015 or 314c/kg. The Browns also won the re­serve cham­pion pen of fe­males and weaner heifer class with 16 qual­ity heifers 287kgs or $772. Ken Ball Tiver­ton Ban­croft won the heifer class over 21 months which sold for 274c/kg or $1015. KA and JE Ballin, Bin­jour won first and sec­ond in the steer class over 21 months with the pens re­turn­ing $1425 and $1323 re­spec­tively. The prime bul­locks class was won by Nagel Ben­nett and Fam­ily with No 4 bul­locks sell­ing to $1720 or 279c/kg.

The suc­cess­ful yard­ing and re­sults will see this sale be­come an An­nual event on the cal­en­dar for the Char­bray So­ci­ety and Monto Cat­tle and Country.
