Monto yards 1240 head for Charbray sale
CHARBRAY Society president Les Marshall Greenfields Jambin was extremely pleased with the yarding and prices at the Inaugural Charbray & Charbray Infused Prime and store show sale held in conjunction with Monto Cattle and Country. 1240 head were yarded. Local grazier and stud principal Steve Pailthorpe of Rangeview Charbray’s won Overall Champion Pen of Steers with 465kg No 5 steers which returned $1400/head. Guest judge Wayne Davis, Murgon addressed the large crowd and commended vendors on the quality cattle yarded. Top gong in the female section went to Bev and Roy Marbach’s No 5 heifers which sold to local charbray producers Larsen Farms for $1130 or 282c/kg. Reserve champion steers and weaner steer class winners were DA and RW Brown Glenleigh Theodore with the quality steers returning $1015 or 314c/kg. The Browns also won the reserve champion pen of females and weaner heifer class with 16 quality heifers 287kgs or $772. Ken Ball Tiverton Bancroft won the heifer class over 21 months which sold for 274c/kg or $1015. KA and JE Ballin, Binjour won first and second in the steer class over 21 months with the pens returning $1425 and $1323 respectively. The prime bullocks class was won by Nagel Bennett and Family with No 4 bullocks selling to $1720 or 279c/kg.
The successful yarding and results will see this sale become an Annual event on the calendar for the Charbray Society and Monto Cattle and Country.
