Federal response

Central and North Burnett Times - - LOCAL -

LATE last year, the Coalition government announced a mental health reform with several elements, including a plan where local Primary Health Networks would decide what mental health services would best suit their community’s needs.

Health Minister Sussan Ley said this reform was a “regionalised approach” to service delivery.

She also said the government would establish a digital mental health system where patients could connect via phone or website.

Shadow mental health minister Senator Katy Gallagher says Labor believes mental health must be a priority.

She said a Bill Shorten government would extend regional health services to include regionallytailored mental health services through Primary Health Networks.
