100km walk to aid diabetes sufferers

Central and North Burnett Times - - VOICE OF THE BURNETT -

DIABETES affects people, young and old, across the North Burnett.

In fact, more than 200,000 Queenslanders are currently living with the different types of diabetes.

One way to combat the problem is through fundraising for organisations such as Diabetes Queensland.

That’s why Jennifer Roth, Julie Brotherton and I are raising money for Diabetes Queensland by doing a 100km walk along the Great Ocean Rd in September.

Diabetes Queensland provides services and education programs, undertakes research and works in the community raising public awareness about diabetes and issues associated with this condition.

Your support makes a positive difference to the lives of children and adults living with diabetes to help them live long, healthy lives.

To participate in the Victorian walk, we need to raise a certain amount, which we plan to do through different activities.

We will have a dog wash this Saturday at Sandra’s DogWash on the Burnett Hwy in Monto, starting at from 9am.

For $10, your pup will get a shampoo and blow dry to walk out sparkling clean.

If you don’t have a dog or would like to help out in another way, a donation jar is currently sitting in the Monto IGA.

Also, keep an eye out for other fundraising activities taking place through to September.

Thank you to everyone in Monto for helping us and being so supportive of inching towards our goal.
