Aerodrome, not airport
NEXT time someone mentions the Gayndah Airport, it’s okay to wonder what they are talking about. Because actually, the flight-take off area that will open on June 11 in Gayndah is officially the Gayndah Aerodrome.
An aerodrome is any place from where flight operations can take place, from a single airstrip to a commercial airport. An airport is a special type of aerodrome that has satisfied certain certification criteria that a regular aerodrome may not have.
