New Men’s shed has strong foundation

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

THE next stage of the Gayndah Men’s Shed has started, with the concrete slab being laid by volunteers this past Monday morning.

Gayndah Men’s Shed president Rob Miller said he couldn’t thank the volunteers enough for their help.

“We really want to thank the local lads who came out to help lay the slab, they all came out here and did it for nothing,” Mr Miller said.

“I might only have 10 years left here but they will be the ones who will benefit from it the most over the years.”

The Men’s Shed sold 152 squares of space to raise the funds for the slab and will now look to moving on to the next stage of the building process.

“Once the slab is done we will get these boxes opened and the shed will go up,” Mr Miller said.

“Army engineers are coming up in mid July to early August to help put it up, this and the Monto shed which is for sport and recreation.”

Mr Miller said the support of the community to get the shed up and going had been great.

“I think is special to get this type of support,” Mr Miller said.

“I said to the boys on opening day they are invited and we will feed them and give them some refreshments.”
