Scarecrow is at home in a vegie patch

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

A MINIATURE scarecrow named Fred is set to make its home in the Staib family garden at Brooweena.

Ten-year-old Ian Staib confiscated the rag bag and hay out of his dad’s shed to come up with his entry of a miniature scarecrow for Saturday’s Teebar Show.

After making a body of hay, Ian dressed Fred in a buttoned-up King Gee shirt and shorts.

The Brooweena State school student said the hat from his teddy bear was the right size.

“I cut out felt for the eyes, beard and mouth,” he said.

“I am now going to put Fred in the vegie garden to scare the birds away.”
