AMIDST heavy rainfall on Saturday, Mundubbera’s bowlers came out in force for the bowls club’s Patron and Patroness day.

Club president Selina Druery said the weather created an extra challenge for the bowlers.

“Everybody played well in the conditions, and they all enjoyed it,” Druery said.

“It makes the green heavier and you’ve got to really let your bowl go to get it up to the other end sometimes.

“These challenges are set to try you.”

Regular bowler Byron Lee enjoyed the extra challenge.

“A bit of wet weather never hurt anybody,” Lee said.

“It was a very enjoyable day with good company.

“Bowls is so relaxing and enjoyable.”

Druery said she rushed the bowlers through lunch so they had more time to play.

“I said look, the quicker we get back on the green, the quicker we can get the game over in case it comes in, as we only played 15 in the afternoon,” Druery said.

“We were off the green by the time it hit hard.

“They were having afternoon tea when it started to come down.”
