Burnett producers flourish

Central and North Burnett Times - - THE FENCE POST -

PRIMARY producers in the Burnett region are benefiting from partnerships with the QRAA.

Burnett and Sunshine Coast client liaison officer Bill Fletcher said the producers are welcoming the long time partnerships in order to start, improve and advance their farming businesses.

“I have always been impressed by the diversity of primary production in the area, and the attitude of the producers themselves,” Mr Fletcher said.

“From graziers to macadamia growers, Burnett locals are resilient, motivated and innovative. It is a real pleasure to see how QRAA’s low interest loans assist them to fund their ongoing growth and improvement.”

In the past 12 months QRAA has approved over $10 million in financial assistance to more than 50 Burnett locals.

The vast majority of this assistance has been under the Queensland Government’s Primary Industry Productivity Enhancement Scheme which allows farmers to purchase their first property or buy into the family business, while Sustainability Loans assist producers in maximising the productivity and viability of their enterprise.

Other assistance given in the past year includes grants and loans to assist in recovery from drought and natural disasters.

Loans are provided up to $650,000.
