HANNAH Radel has a dream to one day be able to look after her father Robbie Radel’s dairy herd.

She would love to become a vet and at the completion of her study come back to the area.

“If dad had any sick cows I could come out and help,” she said.

But she is pretty sad this may not happen.

With the present supermarket milk wars and dairy farmers leaving the industry there may not be a dairy farm to come home to.

Hannah said she definitely wants to stay on the farm.

“I don’t want to have to leave as I’ve been here since I was a baby,” she said.

“When I see my school friends I encourage them not to buy Woolies and Coles branded milk but to buy farmers branded milk like Pauls.”

A special time of the 12 year-old’s time on the farm was attending every Brisbane Royal Show with the exception of one, to help her father with the cattle.

“It’s a special experience as I am able to lead the cows,” she said.

“As well one of my jobs is to make sure the cattle have drinking water.”

When on the farm Hannah helps get the cows in at milking time by rounding them up on the four wheeler.

In the dairy Hannah said she lets the cows go after they have been milked.

“When I see my school friends I encourage them not to buy Woolies and Coles branded milk but to buy farmers branded milk like Pauls.”

“Plus there are taps to turn on and off,” she said.

It’s not all work as Hannah has time to play with the calves.

“They are rather cute,” she said.
