Aus­tralia Day nom­i­na­tions now open

NORTH Bur­nett Re­gional Coun­cil is now call­ing for nom­i­na­tions for the 2017 Aus­tralia Day Awards from clubs, or­gan­i­sa­tions and in­di­vid­u­als within each of the six North Bur­nett Com­mu­ni­ties of Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayn­dah, Monto, Mount Perry and Mun­dub­bera.

By ex­tend­ing the nom­i­na­tion pe­riod, North Bur­nett res­i­dents now have the op­por­tu­nity to nom­i­nate de­serv­ing re­cip­i­ents for the Aus­tralia Day Awards through­out the year. Com­mu­nity mem­bers are en­cour­aged to sub­mit nom­i­na­tions as soon as pos­si­ble, such as af­ter a suc­cess­fully run event or sport­ing achieve­ment while it’s still fresh in your mind.

To en­cour­age fam­i­lies to at­tend Aus­tralia Day events through­out the re­gion, the pop­u­lar “Aus­tralia Day Baby Cer­tifi­cates” will once again be avail­able to all fam­i­lies that cel­e­brate the birth of a new ar­rival be­tween Jan­uary 16, 2016 and Jan­uary 15, 2017. An ap­pli­ca­tion form can be down­loaded or col­lected at any coun­cil of­fice or li­brary. Ap­pli­ca­tions for “Aus­tralia Day Baby Cer­tifi­cates” close Sun­day, Jan­uary 15, 2017. Don’t for­get, these cer­tifi­cates can only be col­lected at your lo­cal Aus­tralia Day event.

The awards are a time to cel­e­brate and ac­knowl­edge those out­stand­ing in­di­vid­u­als and or­gan­i­sa­tions that have made a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to their com­mu­nity. It is very im­por­tant that we recog­nise and ac­knowl­edge the con­tri­bu­tions in­di­vid­u­als and com­mu­nity groups make to the fab­ric of our com­mu­nity. Coun­cil en­cour­age all res­i­dents to nom­i­nate an in­di­vid­ual or group who has made a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to their lo­cal com­mu­nity and/or achieved ex­cep­tional re­sults in sport­ing, vol­un­teer­ing or cul­tural en­deav­ours.

Coun­cil in­vites you to sub­mit an awards nom­i­na­tion form un­der the fol­low­ing cat­e­gories: Cit­i­zen of the Year (27 years or older), Young Cit­i­zen of the Year (26 years or younger), Vol­un­teer of the Year, Com­mu­nity Event of the Year, Se­nior Sports Award (18 years or older), Ju­nior Sports Award (17 years or younger), Sports Ad­min­is­tra­tor Award, Se­nior Cul­tural Award (18 years or older), Ju­nior Cul­tural Award (17 years or younger). Ages will be as at Jan­uary 26, 2016

Nom­i­na­tion forms can be down­loaded or col­lected from any of coun­cil’s li­braries or ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fices. Nom­i­na­tions may be posted to Aus­tralia Day Nom­i­na­tions, North Bur­nett Re­gional Coun­cil, PO Box 390, Gayn­dah 4625, emailed to ad­min@north bur­, faxed to 4161 1425 or lodged at any of coun­cil’s ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fices by 4.30pm Fri­day, Novem­ber 25, 2016.
