Australia Day nominations now open
NORTH Burnett Regional Council is now calling for nominations for the 2017 Australia Day Awards from clubs, organisations and individuals within each of the six North Burnett Communities of Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mount Perry and Mundubbera.
By extending the nomination period, North Burnett residents now have the opportunity to nominate deserving recipients for the Australia Day Awards throughout the year. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations as soon as possible, such as after a successfully run event or sporting achievement while it’s still fresh in your mind.
To encourage families to attend Australia Day events throughout the region, the popular “Australia Day Baby Certificates” will once again be available to all families that celebrate the birth of a new arrival between January 16, 2016 and January 15, 2017. An application form can be downloaded or collected at any council office or library. Applications for “Australia Day Baby Certificates” close Sunday, January 15, 2017. Don’t forget, these certificates can only be collected at your local Australia Day event.
The awards are a time to celebrate and acknowledge those outstanding individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to their community. It is very important that we recognise and acknowledge the contributions individuals and community groups make to the fabric of our community. Council encourage all residents to nominate an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to their local community and/or achieved exceptional results in sporting, volunteering or cultural endeavours.
Council invites you to submit an awards nomination form under the following categories: Citizen of the Year (27 years or older), Young Citizen of the Year (26 years or younger), Volunteer of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Senior Sports Award (18 years or older), Junior Sports Award (17 years or younger), Sports Administrator Award, Senior Cultural Award (18 years or older), Junior Cultural Award (17 years or younger). Ages will be as at January 26, 2016
Nomination forms can be downloaded or collected from any of council’s libraries or administration offices. Nominations may be posted to Australia Day Nominations, North Burnett Regional Council, PO Box 390, Gayndah 4625, emailed to admin@north burnett.qld.gov.au, faxed to 4161 1425 or lodged at any of council’s administration offices by 4.30pm Friday, November 25, 2016.
