An­other sea­son safe in the bag

Win­ter fi­nals come to a close with sum­mer games on the hori­zon

THE most re­cent Gayn­dah touch foot­ball sea­son has come to a close and player Stacey Dun­can said the sea­son was great over­all and she al­ready looked for­ward to the sum­mer com­pe­ti­tion.

“We had a great sea­son for the first half of the year with 11 mixed teams,” Mrs Dun­can said.

The fi­nals were con­tested at the Gayn­dah sports ground be­tween all classes.

C-grade win­ners were All for Fun who beat out Havin a Go 10–5.

Team Heat de­feated River­bend 7–2 to take out the B-grade grand fi­nal.

A-grade was won by team Pis­tol Knight, which de­feated run­ner-up Howzat 9–4.

“The fi­nals had some fan­tas­tic and com­pet­i­tive touch played, but to be hon­est, the whole sea­son was great,” Mrs Dun­can said.

“Thank you to every­one who came out and sup­ported both our play­ers and our club, and well done to all play­ers, sup­port­ers and com­mit­tee mem­bers. It was a great sea­son of touch foot­ball.”

The 2016Win­ter Sea­son Player Awards were handed out af­ter the fi­nals with play­ers named from each team.

Matthew Seabrook and Claire Thomp­son shared the hon­ours for team All for Fun while Ni­cole Chap­man took out the ti­tle for A-grade win­ners Pis­tol Knight.

The other win­ners were Kirsty Kreis, Gabrielle Ge­orge, Zac-Wil­liams, Cal­lum Evans, Zane Rat­cliff, Steven Zahn, Kerry Good­win, Wade Jensen and James Dun­can.

“Con­grat­u­la­tions to all win­ners of the grand fi­nals,” Mrs Dun­can said.

“And well done to all teams for an­other sea­son of out­stand­ing touch foot­ball.”

Mrs Dun­can wants to in­form peo­ple that the sum­mer sea­son’s sign-on is not far away.

“We recom­mence our sum­mer sea­son on Wed­nes­day, July 13 and ju­nior touch foot­ball sign-on is Wed­nes­day, July 20 at 4pm at the Gayn­dah sports fields,” Mrs Dun­can said.

Mrs Dun­can en­cour­ages new play­ers to join in the fun and so­cial at­mos­phere of the Gayn­dah so­cial touch sea­son.

“Team nom­i­na­tions need to be in as soon as pos­si­ble,” Mrs Dun­can said.

All skill lev­els are wel­come to join and are en­cour­aged to gather some friends and start a team.
