Another season safe in the bag
Winter finals come to a close with summer games on the horizon
THE most recent Gayndah touch football season has come to a close and player Stacey Duncan said the season was great overall and she already looked forward to the summer competition.
“We had a great season for the first half of the year with 11 mixed teams,” Mrs Duncan said.
The finals were contested at the Gayndah sports ground between all classes.
C-grade winners were All for Fun who beat out Havin a Go 10–5.
Team Heat defeated Riverbend 7–2 to take out the B-grade grand final.
A-grade was won by team Pistol Knight, which defeated runner-up Howzat 9–4.
“The finals had some fantastic and competitive touch played, but to be honest, the whole season was great,” Mrs Duncan said.
“Thank you to everyone who came out and supported both our players and our club, and well done to all players, supporters and committee members. It was a great season of touch football.”
The 2016Winter Season Player Awards were handed out after the finals with players named from each team.
Matthew Seabrook and Claire Thompson shared the honours for team All for Fun while Nicole Chapman took out the title for A-grade winners Pistol Knight.
The other winners were Kirsty Kreis, Gabrielle George, Zac-Williams, Callum Evans, Zane Ratcliff, Steven Zahn, Kerry Goodwin, Wade Jensen and James Duncan.
“Congratulations to all winners of the grand finals,” Mrs Duncan said.
“And well done to all teams for another season of outstanding touch football.”
Mrs Duncan wants to inform people that the summer season’s sign-on is not far away.
“We recommence our summer season on Wednesday, July 13 and junior touch football sign-on is Wednesday, July 20 at 4pm at the Gayndah sports fields,” Mrs Duncan said.
Mrs Duncan encourages new players to join in the fun and social atmosphere of the Gayndah social touch season.
“Team nominations need to be in as soon as possible,” Mrs Duncan said.
All skill levels are welcome to join and are encouraged to gather some friends and start a team.
