Monto-Mt Perry Road Bridge will be replaced

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

LIFE will soon become easier for North Burnett drivers who travel along Monto-Mt Perry Road.

The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads has announced it will soon start work to replace the Burnett River Bridge on the easily-flooded road.

According to the department, the new bridge will provide greater flood immunity and improved safety conditions for motorists with a reinforced concrete structure, two sealed bitumen lanes and improved alignment with the road.

The original bridge was washed away by floodwaters after Tropical Cyclone Marcia in 2015.

The temporary crossing, which has been used since October last year, will remain in place during construction.

Construction will start this month and is expected to be completed within the first half of 2017, weather permitting.
