THE inaugural Heartland Festival concluded in Mundubbera on Sunday with the Long Table Lunch.

About 110 people forked out $150 for the five-course plus wine meal on the edge of the Burnett River in Mundubbera’s Bicentennial Park.

Chef Kelly Voss prepared all courses using local ingredients, including beef, ham, citrus fruits, blueberries and pecans.

“Some of the comments I got from people were this is something they expect to see in Noosa, not Mundubbera,” Ms Voss said.

“From the wine, the atmosphere, the food, to the Burnett River as well, what they got exceeded their expectations.”

The event took Ms Voss almost two weeks of full-time preparation and she said in the end things ran quite smoothly.

“I feel like we pulled it off really well and represented our town really really well,” she said.

“The food spoke for itself, as we kept it really fresh in its natural state and just added my little quirks to it.”

The Heartland Festival is expected to return to the North Burnett in 2017.
