Transporters are taking our region to the rest of world
STATE-of-the-art Lindsay Transport facilities in Brisbane help connects the North Burnett to the world.
Mundubbera depot manager Mark Ford said the Lindsay Fresh Logistics Depot (LFL), which was connected to Mundubbera by a daily service, was comprised of a loading and unloading service.
“It delivers, to Coles, Woolies, Aldi, Costco, wherever it has to go,” Mr Ford said.
“All the depots sort of bring all their bits and pieces there.
“So for instance if we have six pellets, Bundaberg might have 10, instead of sending 16 trucks to a supermarket with half loads on them, we send them to LFL to combine them and send full trucks out to supermarkets.
“LFL are big on export and import as well and they have containers there for both sea and air, and distribute them to the port or the airport.
“Instead of bringing containers up and loading them at the farms, we can do it in Brisbane.”
Mr Ford said the LFL has a number of treatment facilities available.
“We’ve got large cold rooms there for storage, fumigation services, whatever needs to be done to the product we can do,” he said.
Fruit is transported to the LFL by Lindsay’s extensive truck fleet.
“We load fruit here and at Central Fruit Packers,” Mr Ford said.
“For the smaller farms we just bring it back to the shed here and reload it here. Central Fruit Packers are one of our major customers.
“Trucks are loaded, and then we bring them back to weigh them here, to make sure the weights are compliant, and then we send them off.”
Mr Ford said the company was busy all year round.
“Our citrus season is our busiest, from March to September, but we have grapes in November and December, Mangos in January and February and Blueberries from June to December.
“We’re very reliable, everything is refrigerated and we’ve got depots all over the place.
“18 depots from Cairns through to Adelaide.
“We can get the product to wherever is has got to go.”
Central Fruit Packs operations manager Brent Chambers said Lindsay’s service provides him with a peace of mind.
“They’re one of the best people to use to transport fruit form here to capital cities,” he said.
